During quarantine I discovered a love for reading. I’ve found that it’s a great way to unwind after a long day, and it’s even improved my ability to focus for long periods of time. Here’s a table that summarizes what I’ve read so far:
Title | Author | Comments |
---|---|---|
100 Years of Solitude | Gabriel García Márquez | Needed to take notes on the characters because I kept forgetting how the characters were related. There are like 100 people named Jose Arcadio. |
The Inner Game of Tennis | Timothy Gallwey | Quick read, not really about tennis. |
Heaven's Door | George J. Borjas | Borjas demonstrates a proficiency analyzing and interpreting data, acknowledging potential shortcomings and also provides thoughtful dialogue about immigration policy. |
How To Wash The Dishes | Peter Miller | Quite literally a book about washing the dishes. Informative and a pleasurable read. |
The Price for Their Pound of Flesh | Daina Ramey Berry | Sobering and well structured analysis of how the value of the enslaved changed before, throughout, and after their lives. |
The Seven Pillars of Statistical Wisdom | Stephen M. Stigler | Quick read, a great book for anyone searching for the main ideas (pillars) of statistics. |
Imbeciles | Adam Cohen | Cohen ties 2 cinderblocks to your feet and throws you into the deep end of the eugenics history pool. |
Statistics on the Table | Stephen M. Stigler | (Currently reading) This one is thick, going to keep me busy for a while! |
